Performances and Classes Cancelled

Given the recent recommendations by Governors Wolf and Murphy to avoid gatherings of more than 250 people, and the City of Philadelphia’s ban on  gatherings over 1,000 attendees to limit community transmission of COVID-19, Pennsylvania Ballet’s remaining performances of La Bayadère are cancelled. We are saddened to bring you this news, but the health and safety of our guests, artists, and staff is our top priority.

Suspended In Time will replace New Stories at the Perelman Theater, January 29 – February 7, 2021. Previously part of Breathtaking Balanchine, the ballets Symphony in C and Ballet Imperial will join Stars & Stripes next March at the Academy of Music. This adjusted program is now titled George Balanchine’s Stars & Stripes.

Pennsylvania Ballet’s performances of Passion, Power & Perseverance and Fairy Rhymes at The Haverford School are also cancelled, along with the pre-performance Master Classes with PBII Director Eddy Tovar.

In addition, The School of Pennsylvania Ballet will cancel classes until further notice. Students and parents will be contacted directly with more information.

Let’s Dance sessions on 3/24/20 and 3/26/20 are also cancelled.

Support Pennsylvania Ballet by Donating Your Tickets

As a valued member of the Pennsylvania Ballet family, you can appreciate that resources overwhelmingly go toward producing great work for the stage. Many non-profit organizations such as ours have no contingency budget for civil emergencies. To help with the serious financial impact that performance cancellations will have on the company, patrons can choose to contribute their tickets back as a charitable gift (and receive a tax deduction for the total ticket value). We appreciate your investment, as your tax-deductible donation today ensures that the work we do on stage, in the studios, and in the community will continue.

Options if you have tickets to a cancelled or postponed performance:

  • Donate your tickets. You will receive a tax receipt for your generous contribution.
  • Exchange your tickets to on-account credit. On-account credit funds can be used until July 31, 2020.
  • Please contact Patron Services to discuss additional options.

If you have tickets to La Bayadère, Suspended In Time, or Breathtaking Balanchine, or a cancelled Pennsylvania Ballet II performance, please log in to My Account to make a ticket donation or request an exchange.
