Meet Ana

Hometown: Santander, Spain
Ana Calderon received her training from the Royal Conservatory of Professional Dance of Madrid. In 2004, she was awarded the grand prize from the Princess Grace Foundation of Monaco. Ana joined Pennsylvania Ballet in 2015 as a member of the corps de ballet and has performed both principal and featured roles in ballets such as Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV: Danse à Grande Vitesse, Nacho Duato’s Remansos, Matthew Neenan’s Archīva, Hans van Manen’s Adagio Hammerklavier, and the Sugarplum Fairy in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. Prior to Pennsylvania Ballet, Ana danced with Zurich Ballet in Switzerland under the direction of Heinz Spoerli. In 2007, she performed with Angel Corella and Friends before joining Angel Corella’s Barcelona Ballet, where she was promoted to soloist in 2010. In 2013, Ana joined Houston Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet under the direction of Stanton Welch and danced featured roles in ballets by Ben Stevenson, Trey McIntyre, and George Balanchine.

Ana studied law before moving to the United States, so one day she would like to finish her law degree.
