Eddy Tovar

Artistic Coordinator and PBII Ballet Master

A native of Cuba, Eddy Tovar trained at the National Ballet School in Havana. Tovar began his professional career in Brazil at the Bale do Estado de Goias before joining the Orlando Ballet under the direction of the late Fernando Bujones and Bruce Marks. Tovar rose through the ranks to Principal Dancer in Orlando while also serving as the Resident Guest Artist of the Los Angeles Ballet. He retired from the stage after dancing as a Principal Dancer of the Texas Ballet Theater under the direction of Ben Stevenson. Throughout his career, Tovar appeared in Principal roles in virtually all the full length classic ballets, as well as roles in ballets by George Balanchine and Twyla Tharp. Tovar has also won numerous medals in competitions all over the world and appeared as a guest on the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”. Most recently Tovar served on the faculty of the Hartt School of Dance Department at the University of Hartford. Throughout his career he has staged ballets as well as coached and taught students of all levels. Tovar is currently the Artistic Coordinator and Ballet Master for PA Ballet II. Tovar is married and has a daughter.
