Individual Giving

Individual Giving is vital to the success of Pennsylvania Ballet. Less than half of the Ballet’s revenue comes from ticket sales. Annual Fund contributions help to make up the remaining approximately 55% of our revenue each year.

Annual Fund contributions from individuals like you not only support the Ballet’s general operations (such as the costs associated with rehearsals and performances) but also fund the acquisition of new work, the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, and help provide the resources needed to attract and retain world-class dancers. Annual Fund dollars also go to providing essentials such as costumes, pointe shoes, and physical therapy for our dancers. Your gift will also support Pennsylvania Ballet’s community outreach and education initiatives.

Thank you for considering a gift to Pennsylvania Ballet’s Annual Fund. Donations of all sizes help make a difference – every dollar counts. We could not continue to perform without the generosity of our individual donors!

  • Annual Fund

Annual Fund dollars go to where funds are needed most. By choosing to donate to the Annual Fund, you are helping to support everything from general operating costs, underwriting the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, and essential items like pointe shoes and costumes. Annual Fund gifts make up more than half of the Ballet’s revenue – your donation to the Annual Fund is vital to the Ballet’s success!

If you would like to designate your donation to a specific fund – please see the Special Giving Opportunities menu below and make sure to note which fund you would like to support during the online donation process (or when sending in our downloadable form).

  • Special Giving Opportunities

You may choose to designate your donation to any of the specific funds below. Please let us know which fund you would like to support when completing your online donation (or when sending in our downloadable form).

    Pointe Shoe Fund
Pointe shoes are a significant expense for the Company. Female dancers use approximately 80 pairs per season, at a cost of $70 each. Support your favorite dancer by making a gift towards her pointe shoes for the season!

    Louise H. Reed Repertory Fund
Established in 2003 in honor of Chair Emerita Louise H. Reed, this Fund supports the acquisition of new work, including the commissioning of work from contemporary choreographers.

    Children's Enchantment Fund
Each $30 donation to the Children’s Enchantment Fund provides a free ticket voucher to a low-income child and his or her family.

    Accent on Dance
Since 1996, Accent on Dance has been introducing classical dance to over 10,000 schoolchildren each year. Youngsters attend dress rehearsals at the theater, interact during in-school workshops, or participate in after-school programming. Teachers receive educational workbooks that help integrate the study of ballet into the curriculum.

The School of Pennsylvania Ballet Fund
In September of 2012, after a 20-year hiatus, Pennsylvania Ballet returned to its roots of being a premier pre-professional training institution and re-established The School of Pennsylvania Ballet. An affiliated school is important as it provides the opportunity to train students in the aesthetic and style of Pennsylvania Ballet. Donations made to The School of Pennsylvania Ballet Fund will support the general operations of the School as well as helping to establish scholarships for under-privileged students.

  • Cornerstone Society

The Cornerstone Society (those donors who annually give $1,500 or more) includes some of Pennsylvania Ballet’s most dedicated and engaged supporters. Cornerstone Society members receive exclusive access to the Ballet such as special patron services, invitations to events, and behind-the-scenes opportunities to meet dancers and artistic staff.

Cornerstone Society members indulge their passion for dance by enjoying special privileges and experiencing the Ballet as an insider. Most important, Cornerstone Society donations provide the vital support needed to maintain Pennsylvania Ballet as a leading cultural force in the community. Contributions from Cornerstone Society donors account for nearly 70% of all gifts from non-Board of Trustee individuals.

By joining this society, you will be investing in one of Philadelphia’s most treasured assets. Your support will help sustain the Ballet and allow it to uphold the highest artistic standards.

Please contact Annual Fund Manager, Jessica Holl, at jholl@paballet.org or 215.587.6913 for more information on the Cornerstone Society.
