Individual Giving

Individual Giving

Individual Giving is vital to the success of Pennsylvania Ballet. Less than half of the Ballet’s revenue comes from ticket sales and Annual Fund contributions help to make up the remaining 55% of our revenue each year.

Annual Fund contributions from individuals like you not only support the Ballet’s general operations (such as the costs associated with studio rehearsals and performances), but also fund the acquisition and creation of new work. Support for the Annual Fund allows us to maintain the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, and provide the resources needed to attract and retain world-class dancers. Annual Fund dollars also help to provide essentials, such as costumes, pointe shoes and physical therapy for our dancers. In addition, your gift will support Pennsylvania Ballet’s community outreach and education initiatives, and The School of Pennsylvania Ballet.

  • Annual Fund

Annual Fund dollars go to where funds are needed most. By choosing to donate to the Annual Fund, you are helping to support everything from general operating costs, underwriting the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, and essential items like pointe shoes and costumes. Your donation to the Annual Fund is vital to the Ballet’s success! In appreciation of your support, the Ballet offers its Annual Fund donor a wonderful set of benefits.

If you would like to designate your donation to a specific fund – please see the Special Giving Opportunities menu below and make sure to note which fund you would like to support during the online donation process (or when sending in our downloadable form).

You may choose to designate your contribution to the Annual Fund. Please let us know which fund you would like to support when completing your online donation (or when sending in our downloadable form)

    Pointe Shoe Fund

Well-made, perfect fitting pointe shoes are a significant cost for any ballet company – but they are a necessary expense to ensure female dancers perform at their peak. Pennsylvania Ballet’s female dancers use 50-110 pairs of pointe shoes throughout the course of a season, often going through a pair per performance! A contribution of $75 dollars underwrites a single pair while a gift of $5,000 underwrites a female dancer’s pointe shoes for an entire season.

    Louise H. Reed Repertory Fund

Established in 2003 in honor of Chair Emerita Louise H. Reed, this fund supports the acquisition and presentation of new work to the Company’s repertoire, and allows us to bring new choreographers and ballets never before seen by our audiences. Gifts to the Louise H. Reed Repertory Fund also allow us to expand and diversify the Company’s classical and contemporary repertoire. Since the creation of the Louise H. Reed Repertory Fund, Pennsylvania Ballet has added more than forty new works to its repertoire.

    Community Engagement Fund

“This program has changed many of our student's lives…Across the board this program has improved our children's behavior, academic performance, attendance and socialization. It brings tears to my eyes thinking about what a positive effect it has had on our student's lives.” – Former Community Engagement School Administrator.

Since 1996, Pennsylvania Ballet’s outreach and education programs have been providing unique opportunities and experiences for local, underserved Philadelphia area students that spark interest in performing arts and help to stimulate creativity and cognitive skills. The Ballet’s Community Engagement programs offers a range of free activities that take place during the school day, after school, and at the theater. Please visit our Community Engagement page for more information on specific programs.

    The School of Pennsylvania Ballet

Re-established in 2012, The School of Pennsylvania Ballet prides itself on providing the highest quality of dance education, and fostering artistic and technical excellence. Under the guidance of School Principals Anastasia Babayeva and Denis Gronostayskiy, students are fully immersed in the repertoire, style and aesthetic of Pennsylvania Ballet, and they are also exposed to professional performance opportunities. Support for The School of Pennsylvania Ballet allows us to remain a premier training facility, as well as to provide scholarship assistance to dozens of talented and underprivileged students each year.

  • Leadership Barre

The Leadership Barre (those donors who annually give $2,500 or more) includes some of Pennsylvania Ballet’s most dedicated and engaged supporters. Leadership Barre donors receive exclusive access (such as special patron services, invitations to exclusive events, and behind-the-scenes opportunities to meet dancers and artistic staff) that enhances their experience at the Ballet and allows them to deepen their appreciation of dance. Most important, Leadership Barre donations provide the vital support needed to maintain Pennsylvania Ballet as a leading cultural force in the community. Your support as a Leadership Barre donor will help sustain the Ballet and allow it to uphold the highest artistic standards.
