Dance Chance is an instructional program that brings ballet to first-grade classrooms in Philadelphia schools. The goal of this program is to empower children from diverse and primarily underserved communities to find new space for physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.
All first-grade students in our partner schools actively participate in weekly virtual dance classes in creative movement and ballet vocabulary, regardless of physical ability or previous dance experience. All students are invited to attend an open audition at School of Philadelphia Ballet. Students that show particular promise and dedication have an opportunity for a full scholarship, allowing us to forge a meaningful and sustained impact on future generations of potential professional dancers.
Students are invited to attend school matinees and performances of Philadelphia Ballet as well as take a tour and masterclass at Philadelphia Ballet Studios.
