Auditions for The School of Pennsylvania Ballet

The School Of Pennsylvania Ballet Summer Program
July 8 to August 9, 2013

Auditions are for students ages 12 and up only (except Carlisle and Philadelphia). There is no pre-registration for auditions. Students should arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to register. The audition format will be a traditional ballet class with barre, center and pointe work. 

A $30 audition fee, payable in cash or check made out to Pennsylvania Ballet, is due at registration.

Women should wear pink, footed tights with black leotards, and bring pointe shoes to the audition. Gentlemen should wear black tights and a white T-shirt.

  • Video Auditions

    The School of Pennsylvania Ballet strongly encourages all students to audition in person. However, we do accept videos if you are unable to attend one of the audition tour sites. There is a $50 video audition fee which can be paid by check (made out to Pennsylvania Ballet) or money order.

    The video must be recorded between October 1, 2012 and February 1, 2013 and must be received by February 15, 2013. All videos become the property of The School of Pennsylvania Ballet and may not be returned.

    Wear only leotards, tights and appropriate shoes in the video. All videos should not exceed 15 minutes in length and must include the following:
    1. Complete barre (one side only)
    2. Center floor work
    3. Adagio
    4. Pirouette combination
    5. Petit allegro
    6. Grand allegro
    7. Pointe work
    8. Echappés
    9. Relevés in arabesque
    10. Pirouettes en pointe
    11. Diagonal turning combinations

    Mail DVD and $50 video audition fee to the Pennsylvania Ballet administrative offices:

  • Notification

    Audition results will be emailed approximately one to two weeks after the audition date. Please do not call The School of Pennsylvania Ballet office for results.
