Auditions are open to all male and female students ages 8-21. Students 12 years of age and older are encouraged to attend any audition on our Summer Intensive nation tour. Students ages 8-11 may only attend the Philadelphia auditions at SPB. All students ages 8-21 that are unable to attend an audition on our tour may submit a video audition or arrange for an in-person evaluation by contacting Joanne Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org or 215.587.6942.
Applicants should begin their video with a short introduction including their name, age, birthdate, and current training facility.
Please include a short barre’ showing plies, tendus, and fondu. Centerwork should include an adagio, pirouettes, petit and grand allegro. Gentleman need to show batterie and tours. Ladies pointework should include releves, echappes, and pirouettes.
Video applicants will receive result notification via email by February 15 of their audition or video submission date. Once accepted into the Summer Intensive, all students must register within four weeks of their admission date as space is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. When full capacity is reached, the remaining students will be placed on a wait list. Please be sure to register and submit your deposit on time in order to ensure your spot in the program.
Current students of The School of Pennsylvania Ballet are not required to audition unless they want to be considered for a scholarship. Current students MUST register prior by February 1 to secure a spot. Students registering by February 1st will be given priority enrollment over students from the national audition tour.
Acceptance to the summer intensive is competitive, and only the most proficient students are invited to participate. Select students from the Summer Intensive may be invited to attend The School of Pennsylvania Ballet’s full-year Pre-Professional or Trainee Programs.
*Please note: auditions are not required for the children’s summer program (ages 2-7) or the adult program.
