Students who cannot attend the National Audition Tour may submit a video audition or schedule an audition in person by contacting Joanne Smith at jsmith@paballet.org or 215.587.6942

Applicants will receive notice of the results within two weeks of their auditions.  When accepted to The School of Pennsylvania Ballet Summer Intensive, students must register within four weeks from the date of admission and space is granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the class reaches full capacity, students will be placed on a waiting list. Please be sure to register and send your deposit on time to ensure your place in the program.

Students who are currently enrolled in our school are not required to audition. While we do not require current students to enroll in the Summer Course, we strongly encourage them to do so. Current students are given priority enrollment over students who are invited after the National Audition Tour.  Registration forms will be emailed to all current families in mid-January and will be due no later than February 18, 2017.  Late registrations will be held on a waitlist until after the National Audition Tour is complete and then students will be accepted if space is available.

Pre-Ballet has an Open Enrollment policy. Please note that classes fill quickly and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The School of Pennsylvania Ballet holds its annual five-week Summer Intensive for students at all levels, from 4 to 21 years of age.  Students are drawn from all over the United States and around the world, and are admitted through auditions which are held in a variety of cities in January and February.  Located in the Louise Reed Center for Dance in Center City Philadelphia, the home of Pennsylvania Ballet, the Summer Intensive of The School of Pennsylvania Ballet offers serious ballet students a high level of instruction that includes classical ballet technique, pointe work, partnering, men’s classes, variations, as well as complementary classes in modern dance, character, Pilates and peak performance training.

Our Summer Intensive faculty includes, Artistic Director Angel Corella, Assistant Artistic Director and Interim School Principal Samantha Dunster, and Ballet Mistress Kyra Nichols, plus the School's remarkable roster of permanent faculty members and world renown special guests.

For advanced students and young professionals ages 16 and above, the Summer Intensive is followed by the Company Experience which consists of a full week of professional ballet training. Classes will be taught by Artistic Director, Angel Corella and artistic staff of Pennsylvania Ballet and will include daily workshops to learn pieces from the Company's repertoire.

During the same week as the "Company Experience" dancers ages 11-15 can partake in the Young Dancer Workshop a full week of intensive training, focusing on improving their technical skills and their artistic development while exploring choreography from classical repertoire.

A National Audition Tour for students will be conducted from January through March. Acceptance to the Summer Intensive is competitive, and only the most proficient students are invited. Select students from the Summer Intensive may be chosen and invited to attend The School of Pennsylvania Ballet full year program.
