Leadership Barre

The Leadership Barre Society (annual donors of $2,500 and above) demonstrates a significant commitment to Pennsylvania Ballet’s success and sustainability. A contribution at this level helps us to attract and retain world-class dancers, artistic staff, choreographers, and musicians, as well as invest in new, innovative choreographic works. Leadership Barre donors also provide the support necessary to preserve Pennsylvania Ballet as a leading cultural institution in Philadelphia—from upholding the highest artistic standards and investing in new repertoire to enabling our outreach and education efforts in Philadelphia area schools and providing scholarship assistance for talented and underprivileged students at the School of Pennsylvania Ballet.

Leadership Barre members receive all annual fund donor benefits (season event guide, six admissions to dress rehearsals, invitations to working studio rehearsals, the Pennsylvania Ballet panel discussion and reception, evening technical rehearsals, a signed pair of pointe shoes, and year-round listing in Playbill) plus the additional options outlined below.

For more information about the Leadership Barre, contact Jane Kamp, Director of Development, at 215.587.6912 or jkamp@paballet.org.

DRESS REHEARSAL

(Supporter Level: $150 – $249 and above)

  • A gift of $150 – $249 = 2 admissions (with option to bring a guest)
  • A gift of $250 – $499 = 4 admissions (with option to bring a guest)
  • A gift of $500 and above = 6 admissions (with option to bring a guest)

Dress rehearsals are fully staged productions wherein our dancers and artistic staff make final adjustments before opening night. Dress rehearsals begin promptly at 1:00pm. Lobby doors will open at 12:30pm, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Rehearsals typically last three hours; however, you may leave the theater during any pause. Attendance by children under age five is discouraged. Please note: we also quite often invite children from Philadelphia-area schools currently participating in our popular outreach and education programs—and, for some, this will be their first time experiencing ballet in a theater setting!

TECHNICAL REHEARSAL

(Enthusiast Level: $250 and above)

  • A gift of $250 = 2 invitations (with option to bring a guest)

Evening technical rehearsals provide a rare behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing a performance from the studio to stage. While the dancers rehearse, lighting, sound, and a myriad of other technical procedures and cues involved in mounting a production are integrated into the performance. Prior to the rehearsal, we invite you to join us for a wine and cheese reception in the theater lobby. Doors open at 6:30pm, and donors are encouraged to enjoy refreshments until rehearsal begins at 7:00pm. The technical rehearsal typically lasts three hours; however, you may leave the theater during any pause. Attendance by children under age five is discouraged.

PANEL DISCUSSION & RECEPTION

(Aficionado Level: $1,000 and above)

This members-only lecture offers intriguing discussions on dance with members of Pennsylvania Ballet’s artistic staff as well as cultural leaders from throughout the Philadelphia area. Curated discussions have included topics such as musical accompaniment and visual collaborations and featured speakers such as former principal dancer, Martha Chamberlain, solo pianist, Martha Koenman, and notable dance scholars such as Bryn Mawr College’s Linda Caruso Haviland.

STUDIO REHEARSAL

(Champion Level: $1,500 and above)

This ultimate behind-the-scenes experience offers a glimpse into a typical day with our dancers. Watch as these elite artists rehearse for upcoming performances and receive coaching from members of the Pennsylvania Ballet artistic staff. Studio visits must be arranged with our development staff on a mutually agreeable date. Please contact the Development Department for assistance: 215.587.6904.
